INTERPRETIVE

APPLIED
My independent component has taught me more about the business side of photography. My essential question has changed now but I have still learned from my component. My people skills have developed as well. Dealing with customers is not always an easy job but I have learned to be prepared for any situation. My other proof is in my blog entries with my pictures from R.O.P. and the other events that I have helped Jack with. Through his class I have learned different techniques about photography and have furthered my understanding. This in turn makes me more knowledgeable about my topic.

Blog 11: Mentorship 10 Hours Check

1. Where are you doing your mentorship?
My mentorship hours right now are coming from the ROP class I go to and side jobs that Jack could use assistance with outside of school like the Santa photoshoot at the hospital or the Claremont College. On the 19th of January I'm helping him photograph at a dance studio which is something similar I did for my summer hours.

2. Who is your contact?
Jack Bohlka is my mentor and contact.

3. How many total hours have you done (total hours should be reflected in your mentorship log located on the right hand side of your blog like your WB)?
I have done about 80 hours total including my 10+ hours from the summer.

4. Summarize the 10 hours of service you did.
During my 10 hours I did things like keep track of the money from orders we did at the dance studio, keep track of file numbers and names of people, and even take my own photographs of brides and grooms at their weddings.

5. Email your house teacher the name of your contact and their phone number.

January 7, 2013: ROP Tell A Story

Today was about telling a story with a photo. Photos become famous because they capture a moment in time, whether it be good or bad, as well as the emotion and mood that was in that moment. Today the students had to first start off by telling a story in 5 pictures. Later they will have to tell a story in just one.

December 22, 2012: New Equipment :)

For 2 years the Sony NEX-3 has been something I asked for for Christmas and my birthday and all though the years. The day before my birthday (it was a surprise birthday :)) my family and close friends surprised me with the camera on the left. I couldn't thank them enough. I felt that before i couldn't really be called a photographer with my iPhone pictures or my water camera. The quality of the photo just was not anything compared to a professional camera. The great thing about this camera is that it has all the capability of a DSLR camera but it's compact. I am so grateful for my family and friends for this amazing gift.

The camera on the right was given to me by a very special person. I told him how in love I am with the feel of a film photo and camera. I remember when I was younger going to rolls of film and disposable cameras taking picture of whoever wanted to be my subject. The Canon camera that Ricardo gave to is a camera from the 70's, when (from what he told me) was one of Canon's early detachable lens cameras. Even the batteries have to be specially ordered because they are not sold everywhere. I have yet to use it because I need to buy batteries but I can't wait to take film photos with this amazing camera! I am so grateful for him and I was completely surprised by it. He's the best!

Both of these cameras are great tools for my project topic and I can't wait to utilize them!
